[The Expedition] The Trophies of Kuros vol’zog (IC)

Post by Qardin Fal-cona »

Finally!!!

Welcome to the IC thread of the RP "the Expedition".
First off, I gave it another title so the RP could one day have a sequel for those who would like it.

Rules:

1. NO GOD-MODE-ING!
2. You can allways drop out or join the RP on any given occasion. just post a comment in the OOC thread
3. You can bring your own weapons, NPC's and Droids, just as long you stay IC. In other words: A scientist will not have a sniper rifle equipped and wearing a heavy body
armor.
4. you can create an event within the RP, BUT ask always ask me first through DM. for example, if you want a bunch of lizard monkeys stealing some of our food, just post
it. a squad of storm troopers attacking us, DM me the how's and why's. An army of force ghosts attacking us with force lightning is a bit excessive.
5. Interactions between one another spice up the RP, but if you want to do something drastic (harming or even killing someone else's NPC, falling in love with someone
else's NPC or someone else, ...) ask the the person first so we could avoid awkward and loaded conversations in the OOC thread.
6. Check the first posts (in OOC thread an IC thread) every so often. I'll edit it sometimes when i think there's something you all need to know.
First post OOC: http://swc-krath.net/forum/viewtopic.ph ... 971#p24971
7. TAKE INITIATIVE, POST IDEAS AND MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL, CORRECT ME WHEN I POST SOMETHING STUPID!!!

I WILL POST FIRST POST WHEN WE'RE ALL READY TO START. TELL ME IN THE OOC THREAD IF YOU'RE READY TO START OR IFTHERE ARE ANY QUESTIONS.

The holo-projector on both the Koros and Kuros beeped twice and then automatically opened a priority channel.

Briefing:

Greetings loyal servants of Krath. I Lord Preceptor En Sabah Nur of the Order of Krath and Krath Ruling Council am sending this transmission to you, the volunteers for the expedition to uncover the much rumoured treasures of Kuros vol’zog. Along with this holo recording, you will receive an encrypted data file containing a mission briefing to outline the objectives of the expedition and to give you some background information on what to expect once planetside.

May Krath guide you to glory!

With a slight flicker, the image of the Lord Preceptor was gone again and both ships data terminals registered that they had received the encrypted files.

Mission briefing/outline:

Location:
Planet: Empress Teta
System: Empress Teta
Sector: Koro-Teta

Objective: Find the fortress hideout of the ancient Krath warrior Kuros vol’zog.

Bio of Kuros vol’zog (Mostly rumours):
- Wealthy Inhabitant of the planet Empress Teta and one of the first to join the Krath
- Great warrior within the Krath Military between the years 4000 BBY and 3996 BBY where he fell in a heroic last stand against opposing forces.
- Primarily resided within a highly fortified fortress at an undisclosed location on Empress Teta that was said to be filled with a collection of war trophies, holocrons, and other various artifacts from his conquests.

Qardin was packing his bag. The Krath sent him on some sort of expedition, accompanied by colleagues from every department of the faction. Even some he had never seen before. They hadn't been briefed yet on what they were looking for, what they would have to expect, which threats they would face, nothing, just what role they would play and what they would have to bring.

He grumbled.

"Where the Hell are they sending us too, couldn't they have briefed us any earlier?!"

He stood in a completely dark room, the room which he had called home ever since he had come to the Krath and felt like he was forgetting something. The tall Anzati took his backpack, key card and strolled out of the room. His eyes burned as the sun light struck his face. His shades! He ran back inside, covering his pale eyes from those devil's flames. His round, purplish shades lay on the counter in the entrance room which he grabbed with one swipe and put them on.

He strolled out for the second time and gazed to the sky.

*You won't have me twice, you foul ball of gas!* He thought and grinned. Qardin saw that his riflemen where already waiting for him near his Delta-class JV-7 escort shuttle.

"Finally Mr. Fal-Cona, we thought you bumped your toe again" Aeonian Vang laughed at him.

"Yeah, very funny, ya old amphibian" Qardin replies the Mon Calamari, bumping his shoulder. "Ready for take-off, my old friend? Let's go!"

At the sound of Qardin's deep voice, they all walked into the ship. Qardin sat next to Vang as his co-pilot in the cockpit, prepared for take-off and made their way to the Gallisport on Shesharile 3.

The flight was smooth as ever, as Qardin was an experienced pilot.

Once arrived at the starport, they made their way too one of the ATR-6 Assault Transports, the one that had ES Kuros written on it.

"Well, Vang, this is where our first adventure with the Krath begins, isn't it?"

The Mon Calamari nodded, with the corners of his amphibian-like mouth uplifted.

Verdre had been having a lot of fun since he got leave to go on leave. Sure, it's not every day that he got approached by Aliit'buir Ar'Togl to run an operation, officially he was meant to have disappeared, a single record at the Klath'mor Monolith being all that remained of his history.

Flying his red painted N1 Fighter and escorted by another, he banked and landed at the port near the Assault Shuttles he had been told about. Looking at the fabled ships that so fascinated Andrew Panzer, he almost messed up the landing, but quickly correcting, both fighters settled on the nearest pad. Opening the cockpit, Verdre hit the cargo hatch release and levered himself out. A Corellian male, he was approximately 30 years of age, though appearing much older. A scar on his left cheek showed that he had seen battle, his N1 agreed with this estimation, showing blaster scarring and a laser blast on the right side of the vessel. Clearly these vessels had been repaired somewhere, but it is unknown where.

Pulling a survival pack out, he opening it up, pulling out his Relby K23, Rykk Blade and Medkit. Leaving his changes of clothes and other kit inside, he picked everything up and headed to the freshers, signalling to his colleague he would meet him by the ATRs.

Minutes later, Verdre was dressed in a grey Krath uniform, the only addition being a stylised A, the logo of Aliit Ar'Klim. On top of that, a heavy belt bulged with gear. Strapped to his left arm was a compact field medikit that he loaded bacta refills into as he walked towards the transport. holstered at his waist was his Relby, and his Rykk Blade sheathed on his back beneath his survival pack.Pulling his comlink out, he checked his connection to Ar'Klim Control in Shadola, cross checking the connection with Port Selrac Node Alpha. Though far away, the connection showed a 58% signal rate.

Looking up, he saw in front of him a large Selkath...Marclonus stood before him dressed in a similar uniform and with identical kit, sharp claws ready to tear or trim as needed. A merchant by nature, he was walking around the transport as if assessing its value while waiting. Seeing the first Aliit'buir be Ar'Klim in recent days, he stopped and turned to face him. A silent man by nature from 7 years of solitude, Verdre simply stopped and waited with him for a second, before boarding the transport together. Grev had clearly told him the mission was important....

"Sir, all hands are aboard." Melleriana Thurinos said as she stepped up to Warrant Officer Mark Smythe. One of the few Aqualish aboard the ship, Melleriana was the only member of the species that had known Mark before the Derra Virus had transformed him from an Aqualish to an Abysssin. It was in no way a secret, however. Mark did not behave, speak, or smell like an Abyssin. He was either a pariah - unlikely, given his rank and the number of soldiers under his command - or merely another affected by the Derra Virus.

"The Bearer of Sorrows has given us the green light," she said with no discernible emotion. "Permission to begin our departure?"

"Yes, Melleriana, please have the pilot do so immediately." Mark replied with a nod.

I could never pass for a true Abyssin, he thought with a smile. Those brutes couldn't spell 'please.'

Within moments, Mark felt a slight bump as the Corellian Star Shuttle Catalyst of Sorrows dropped from the larger YV-666. The Catalyst dropped quickly from the larger vessel and had not been under power for a full minute before the flames of reentry began to lick at her hull. While some would be curious, even worried, at the quick approach of the Catalyst, those onboard went about their conversations with no concern. As a member of the Ori'Ramikade, Mark and his soldiers had spent more time on Derra in combat than most any other group in Krath. They had dropped from the Bearer of Sorrows in this very same shuttle more time than they could count - and into far less hospitable territory. Originally a member of First Sun, Mark had been pursuaded rather unceremoniously to join Krath. He was happy with the way fate had worked out, though. He had hated his superiors in First Sun. With Krath, he was allowed to fight to his heart's content, he was a part of a team, and he had a clan.

Mark opened his eyes as the Catalyst came to a landing with a slight bump. He had not realized he had fallen so deep into thought. He rolled his neck as he stood and grabbed his gear. Donning his helmet as he exited the craft, Mark immediately spotted his Jailspeeder rolling out of the Catalyst and preparing to set out. With an exaggerated nod demanded by the bulky Heavy Battle Armor he was wearing, Mark dismissed Melleriana and moved instead towards the ATR-6 Assault Transports sitting a short distance away. With a final glance towards his vessel, Mark boarded the ES Kuros and sat in the front where his armor would present the least burden to those attempting to pass by.

The Kaleesh priest sat motionless in his quarters aboard the Ti'haar. He sighed as his daughter Gymwooken called to him. He had not broken his meditative state for several hours, and he was sorry he had to. Lord Breviin had given no sign as to why he had been chosen for this mission. Slowly getting up, he could feel his aching muscles pleading at him to sit again. He resisted the temptation to comply as he walked slowly to the cockpit of the YT-1200. He entered the room quietly, as not to disturb his daughter. He gazed affectionately at the Cathar clone as she lowered the ship into the docking space arranged for them. As she set the ship down on the landing pad, she smiled.

"Shall we be leaving, Buir?"

Xer`da nodded appreciatively. He went back to his quarters and donned his robe over his armour, Zenji needles, and BD-1 cutter. He walked to the opened hatch of the ship to see Gymwooken waiting for him, wearing her Correlian Powersuit Armour with her A280 strapped on her back. He nodded approvingly, and the two walked toward the entrance to the starport, seeing the Breviin insignia displayed on their apparel, the guards let them in without a question. They strode to the other side of the starport and onto the ES Kuro.

Already in his armor, Dave had been in aboard the ES Kuros, communing with it, gaining the state of ori'ramikade he achieves with a ship before flying. He thinks that the time with many others, vode and likewise, will be interesting and profitable. He is not quite sure what this mission is, beyond that he is to escort higher ups on a vacation. He checks his load out, looking in his bag.

He moves to the door to the cockpit as passengers and other pilots enter, greeting them, evaluating them.

Rather noisily the battered and hodge-podged X-ceptor choked and thudded ungracefully onto the landing deck. The screeching of metal following it as it slid to its final stop, coming to within a few small feet of a much more gracefully parked pair of N-1s. Almost immediately, it was immediately enveloped in a haze of whitish-gray smoke as severla internal gears and servos whined in complaint as the ship began to settle. As the ship began to run its post flight checks, inside, out of sight, a rather elongated Diathim struggled to pull his feet out of the cramped area designed for a much smaller being. Finally, after numerous failed attempts he sighed and popped the hatch, immediately launching himself out of the cockpit into the air, where he hovered for a moment, a small pack hanging from his left hand as he adjusted his hood and ran a gloved right hand over his coarse brown robes. It had been a great while since he had had anyone to speak to aside from his fellow acolytes and the few indentured servants he kept to ensure that things remained running smoothly, and he felt somewhat out of place with so many other servants of Krath whom he had never been introduced to.

Satisfied that he was not going to get any of the more stubborn wrinkles out, the Diathim motionlessly descended towards the ground, his wings and all other signs of his newly granted Diathim heritage safely concealed behind the coarse brown robe, brown gloves and brown facemask he wore as a sign of his servitude to the god Krath.

Setting his feet down on the ground, the 9 foot tall being walked gracefully towards the others, who were, even now, making their way aboard one of two ATR-6’s currently setting on the edge of the pad. Glancing around, he attempted to see who would all be accompanying him on his quest, hoping that he might recognize at least someone; but after a few glances he was sure that anyone who he might know was not here and if they were they had likely been effected by the plague much as he himself had been and been rendered unrecognizable for the most part.

As he began to walk towards the transports, the Diathim paused for the briefest of moments, he still did not have much of any idea as to what sort of journey he might be on and to a careful planner such as himself this was a bit worrisome. The only thing that he really did know was that whatever it was he was taking part in, it was off the record, so to speak, as he had been asked to take an official leave of absence from his duties with the Krath Hospitaller Fleet to go on this endeavor. In addition, he was somewhat puzzled by the request that he take up the roll of an engineer. It was true that he did have a few mechanically inclined skills and that on a good day he could cobble together a repair job that would hold out, under normal conditions, until whatever vessel he was travelling on could make it back to civilization; however, he just couldn’t grasp how that made him the most qualified for engineering work in any way shape or form. ‘Besides,’ he thought to himself, ‘I can’t imagine that they’d want me for my other less reputable skillset. . .’ before he ducking his tall thin frame aboard the second ship, the ES Koros.

Tilting his already ducked head, Finar stared about the crew area, completely unfamiliar with any ship of this sort or class. Noting that the ship was rather empty at the moment he shuffled his way back towards the rear and took a seat with his back gently touching the cornered walls and dropping the engineering bag at his feet. ‘. . . .By the will of Krath. . . ‘ he sighed mentally as he gently brushed his elbows against his loose robes reassuring himself that his knife was still securely in its sheath. He then attempted to somewhat covertly check to be sure that his wristcaster was still loaded and hidden beneath his sleeve. After being satisfied that it was, he reclined slightly, all that was left to do now was wait. . . . ‘As long as nobody minds my ship’s parking job’ he smiled to himself as he closed his eyes.

Qardin was about to head into the ES Kuros when he saw others arriving: a N1 Fighter, a jailspeeder appearing in the distance, the rumble of a YV-666 and a very noisy X-ceptor.

*That's a way to enter in class* he thought, grinning at the face of the X-ceptor. He waited until the X-ceptor had landed, just to see how it would park, sure it had lost some controlling units.

Qardin chuckled.

He had seen a Corellian enter the craft he was about to board. He didn't mind Qardin and his odd amphibian squad, nor did Qardin mind him. The Anzati entered the craft, seeing that the man had taken a seat. Qardin and his 3 comrades took the seats at the back. Q checked his backpack again, and saw he took one of his lucky decks.

He took out the deck of cards and started shuffling.

Kal strolled slowly out of a patch of forest near the landing area. He could smell the ships long before he saw them and was pleased to see that the others had begun to arrive. He wasn't sure why he had been chosen for his duties with this crew but he enjoyed flying and he was skilled in D'ael'kad so he could be of great help. Kal decided to finish his practice and then go to the Koros to warm up the systems. Kal moved back to the clearing he'd found and unsheathed his Hand made Rykk blade. Kal settled into a slight crouch his 2.8 meter frame still taller than most species standing at full height. He slowly brought his blade back. He held it with the tip pointing down and back with his feet shoulder width apart and angled toward an invisable opponent. He stood silently his muscles coiled beneath his armor his green eyes narrowed in concentration. Then like a statue suddenly brought to life he brought the blade up and forward in an upward slash called parting the veil. Continuing the motion he spun on his heel and dipped ow as the blade whipped in a waist height arc called dragon whiping his tailand sliced the air from low right to mid left in earth strikes sky. The three moves ended with a return to the two hand cross body defensive posirion. Kal held the pose for a full minute before finally sheathing his weapon and walking back to the landing pad. His heavy robes billowed around his jet black armor as they were caught by the wind and his durasteel face mask was uncovered as his black hood blew back. Kal kept walking enjoying the cooling breeze and finally came to the boarding ramp of the Koros. Kal entered and was amazed to see another sentient who was actually tall enough to look at him squarely. Nodding a hello Kal walked to the cockpit and squeezed in to a seat designed for a shorter being. He checked the instruments and began preflight procedures. It was hard to imagine just months before he had awakened in deep space with only one clear memory, no possessions other than what he wore and no friends. It was by chance he had found people to take him on as a pilot and prehaps the Manda that helped him find the Ori'ramikade. In any case he was here. Kal fired up the engines and waled back to the other sentient, then spoke directly to the mind of the other.~This one is glad to see another of his kind. Are you from home or one of the changed ones?
