The great battle on the plains of Adarlon was both isolated and strange. An angry creature vs. a wounded Barabel in the middle of an empty plain.....
Firing as fast as his trigger and pistol would permit, Saheen empty shot after shot into the hide of the howlrunner, burning legs, arms, belly and even the tail on occasion. Howls turned to whimpers as the clawing of the howlrunner became weaker.
Limping away, the Howlrunner lay limp on the ground, moving less and less as time went by. After 5 minutes, the creature no longer moved. Taking stock of his own injuries, Saheen took a look at his body, poking and prodding the various wounds to gauge the pain. One leg was badly injured but he could limp along without significant pain. His arms were weakened through multiple scratches, gouges and wounds, one was mostly useless and now almost swollen rigid. His torso had a couple of gouges on his chest and a thin raking gouge on his lower back.
Taking stock of the situation, he stopped walking and thought about his next move.

Saheen took out his macrobinoculars and survey the are to see if anything was near by. He decided to limp along until he found a good sized stick to walk with. Saheen saw one about his size. So he picked up the stick and used it like a cane when he walked.
"That's was a close one."
He kept on walking on occasinally hearing noises and checking his surroundings.

Walking along with his makeshift cane, Saheen walked into the city of Adarlon, to be greeted by his peers and a group of medics, ready to celebrate his success. As he was patched up, the veteran officer who had abandoned him in the plains smiled on.
