Mandalore’s Mask
Discoverer: Kai Oryk
Planet: Kuar

The Mask of Mandalore – “Te buy’ce be Mand’alor” in Mando’a – could be considered an item of legend, were it not for its ability to unite the clans of the Mandalorians throughout their turbulent times in history.

An iconic war mask, worn only by Mandalore – the leader of the Mandalorian clans – carries with it the great battles that were faced by Mandalorian warriors, as well as featuring the famous T-visor known to be one of the main images related to Mandalorians.

The history of the mask is as unknown to outsiders as the Mandalorians themselves. It is said to have originated around the time of Mandalore the First, becoming a mark of leadership, with only those warriors who had proven themselves worthy in the eyes of their Mandalorian brethren receiving it upon the passing of the Mandalore before them.

Despite the ritualistic passing of the mask to the next successor, the mask (and its former wearer) became lost and for many years, the Mandalorians were without the leader their culture called upon to lead them, leaving the clans to scatter without a leader and the culture to fall from its former glory. It wasn’t until a Mandalorian came across clues from a roonstone that contained familiar markings, that a journey was undertaken to find mask and its former wearer.

Following the hints provided from former battles, a small group led by the Mandalorian who had found the roonstone clue, were able to find a ruined building deep within the forests of Kuar, which was littered with the long dead bodies of Mandalorians, still wearing their armour. Upon further inspection, deep within the ruins, the long sought after answer to the question of where the last true Mandalore and the mask had disappeared was found.

Signs within the ruin point to a great battle having taken place between the Mandalorians and another group of warriors, with no clear sign of a victor but many having fallen. Upon finding the mask, the Mandalorian staked claim to the legendary title of Mandalore, having already moved to unite the clans.
